GameStop confirms plans to hold a PS5 in-store sale event on Thursday
Bundles will be available for PowerUp Rewards Pro members
GameStop will have PlayStation 5 console bundles available to purchase at some branches this Thursday.
As previously reported, consoles will only be available at selected stores. They’ll also be reserved for GameStop PowerUp Rewards Pro members.
Starting at $14.99, GameStop Pro membership includes loyalty rewards, extra trade in credit, a Game Informer subscription, plus access to exclusive offers and events.
GameStop is selling Xbox Series X consoles online on Wednesday, including a $649 bundle which comes with an extra controller, a three-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription and a $50 gift card.
Sony recently started taking new registrations for the chance to buy PS5 consoles directly from the company.
Having made a limited number of PS5 consoles available for US consumers to purchase from PlayStation Direct over the holiday season, it’s now taking fresh sign-ups and has extended the offer to some European countries.
Registration is currently open for players based in the US, UK, Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. They will need to use an email address associated with a PlayStation Network ID and opt in to receive marketing emails.
Sony claimed last July that PS5 had become its fastest selling console ever after topping 10 million sales in about eight months.
The company has said it intends to ship more than 22.6 million PS5 consoles during its next fiscal year beginning in April 2022. If achieved, it would beat a 24-year-old console sales record set by the original PlayStation.
