Gamescom 2020 initial exhibitor list includes Xbox and Nintendo

PlayStation absent from list of confirmed attendees

Gamescom 2020 initial exhibitor list includes Xbox and Nintendo

Gamescom has announced the initial exhibitor list for 2020’s event in Cologne, Germany.

It includes platform holders Xbox and Nintendo, but Sony Interactive Entertainment is yet to be confirmed for the show, which will take place from August 25-29.

The first wave of confirmed exhibitors also includes Bandai Namco, Bethesda, Capcom, CD Projekt, EA, Sega, THQ Nordic and Ubisoft.

Gamescom 2019 attracted a record 373,000 visitors, while the number of exhibiting companies totalled 1,150, according to organiser Koelnmesse.

While it may yet decide to exhibit at Gamescom 2020, Sony’s absence is a notable one. The platform holder has already opted to skip E3 in June in order to showcase PlayStation 5 at other events.

“We will build upon our global events strategy in 2020 by participating in hundreds of consumer events across the globe,” the company said in January. “Our focus is on making sure fans feel part of the PlayStation family and have access to play their favourite content.”
