Gallery: Here’s PS5’s new Red and Black DualSense controllers, in the flesh
Controller colours will be released on June 18
The first in-the-flesh images showing PS5‘s new controller colours have been published, via Japanese site Game Watch.
Until now, the controller has only been available in its standard black and white design, but the two new colours will be released this month, with the specific date differing depending on the country.
In the US and the UK, the Midnight Black and Cosmic Red controllers will launch on June 18.
“Midnight Black features two subtly different shades of black with light grey detailing to reflect how we view space through the night sky,” Sony said last month.
Cosmic Red, meanwhile, “offers a striking black and red design inspired by the unique vivid shades of red found throughout the cosmos”.

“We wanted the new controller colours to complement each other, as well as the original DualSense wireless controller and PS5 console, so we designed the colours around the theme of ‘galaxy’ as it felt like a natural progression from the original PS5 and accessories designs”, Leo Cardoso from Sony‘s design team told the PlayStation Blog.
These are the first alternate colour designs for the PS5 controller. Xbox Series X/S already launched with Robot White, Carbon Black and Shock Blue options, while a Shock Red colour was released in February and Electric Volt and Daystrike Camo launched on April 27 and May 4 respectively.
