Frontier announces F1 Manager 2022 for release this summer

Planet Zoo and Jurassic World Evolution studio Frontier Developments has announced F1 Manager 2022.

The new official management game will be released this summer for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

“F1 Manager 2022 challenges you to play a pivotal role in the paddock of the world’s most exhilarating motorsport,” reads the blurb accompanying the game’s reveal trailer, which is viewable below.

“Become the Team Principal for any of the 10 teams, compete on the official circuits over multiple seasons, hire real-world drivers and engineers, expand your HQ, and build the next dominant force in F1.”

Frontier Developments announced in March 2020 that it had secured the rights to make a series of Formula One management games.

The licence provided it with the rights for four F1 seasons (2022 to 2025), subject to the achievement of certain financial performance thresholds.

The British developer said at the time that the F1 partnership created “an exciting opportunity to bring together Frontier’s experience and capability, including its powerful and versatile Cobra game engine, to the management-rich environment of the globally popular and ever-changing world of F1”.

The rights for F1 racing sim games is currently held by Codemasters. The EA-owned studio has an agreement in place to make F1 racing games until 2025, with a further option for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.
