Free event offers advice for getting a job in the UK games industry
GI.biz Live: Academy will feature industry experts talking about life in the industry
A free digital networking event takes place later this month designed to help people get a job in the UK video games industry.
Run by our network partners at GamesIndustry.biz, GI Live: Academy will run from Monday, October 26 until Wednesday, October 28 inside a special Discord server.
The event is effectively a digital career fair, where students, graduates, and anyone interested in a career in games, can meet and connect with over 50 UK industry professionals.
In the Discord, attendees will be able to chat with journalists, programmers, artists, game designers, writers, producers, community managers, product managers, animators, testers and more. It’s a chance to find out about life in the video games industry, and how to get ahead.
The event will also include keynote talks from industry figures such as Romero Games’ Brenda Romero and indie games veteran Mike Bithell, plus roundtables and masterclasses with experts, and one-to-one portfolio reviews.
Companies signed up to take part include Creative Assembly, Codemasters, Square Enix, Team17, BAFTA, UKIE, No More Robots, Unit 2 Games, Lucid Games, Futurlab and many more. There will also be surprise ‘industry legends’ appearing in the Discord at 3pm on each day.
