Fortnite’s latest live event attracted a ‘record’ 12 million players
Travis Scott performed new music in Epic’s game
Over 12 million concurrent players participated in a live Fortnite concert by American rapper Travis Scott, according to Epic Games.
The figure represents a new record for concurrent players, the developer said, comfortably topping the 10.7 million who participated in a Fortnite in-game DJ Marshmello concert in February 2019.
Free-to-play Fortnite has become known for its spectacular live events. In October 2019 the game transitioned to Chapter 2 in an event watched by over seven million players. In December movie director Star Wars director J.J. Abrams participated in an exclusive Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker event that premiered a scene from the movie and even added to its canon.
With its latest Travis Scott event, Epic is giving players around the world a second chance to participate at times more convenient to their region.
The event will be repeated today, April 24 at 3pm BST. Further shows are planning for April 25 at 12am EDT, 11am EDT and 6pm EDT.
