Fortnite officially reveals Sora, Crash, Spyro, Mega Man, Persona and other gaming crossovers for its next season

Fortnite has officially revealed the main art for its next season, fully confirming its video game crossover theme.

Chapter 7 Season 4 of Fortnite is called Override, and is set to start on August 20.

Following numerous leaks – as well as teases from Fortnite’s own social media accounts – it’s also now fully confirmed that the season will focus on crossovers from various video games.

Last week Epic Games posted a nine-second clip teasing that Sonic would be coming to the game, along with the tagline “break the rules, change the game”.

It has now posted a full length trailer for the Override season, confirming Sonic and numerous other video game characters, who are coming to Fortnite for the first time.

Newcomers confirmed in the trailer and accompanying artwork include:

• Sonic the Hedgehog
• Tails
• Dr Eggman
• Shadow
• Sora (Kingdom Hearts)
• Joker (Persona)
• Crash Bandicoot
• Spyro the Dragon
• Mega Man
• Rush (Mega Man)
• Pac-Man
• Tetris

It’s not yet clear which of these characters will be skins unlockable through the Battle Pass, which will be purchasable in the game’s store, which will be sidekick characters and which will simply appear as NPCs.

The promo image also shows numerous other video game characters who have already appeared in Fortnite, including Ryu and Blanka from Street Fighter, Master Chief from Halo, Geralt from The Witcher and Lara Croft.

Numerous video game characters have appeared as skins in Fortnite in previous seasons, mostly as additions to the game’s store rather than part of the main story.

Indeed, the game has its own specific rarity called Gaming Legends Series, which is dedicated to skins and other cosmetics from other video games.

Nearly 70 video game characters from other IPs have already appeared as skins in Fortnite, including characters from Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, Mortal Kombat, God of War, Assassin’s Creed, Doom and Cyberpunk 2077.
