Fortnite Chapter 3 has been revealed, with Spider-Man, a brand new island and more
The new chapter, titled ‘Flipped’, begins today
Fortnite Chapter 3 has been revealed featuring a new, flipped island, new challenges and a new battle pass headlined by Marvel’s Spider-Man.
A new trailer, which shows off the new areas that players can visit such as The Daily Bugle from Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise, also reveals a new web-swinging mechanic.
Spider-Man, and several costume variants such as the symbiote suit, headline the first battle pass of the new season.

At the end of Chapter 2 of Fortnite, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was revealed to be the voice of The Foundation, leader of The Seven, an organization in Fortnite that maintains order across the various dimensions that encompass Fortnite. A skin for his character is also earnable via the battle pass.
Chapter 2 concluded with a live event called The End on Saturday, during which players saw the island flipped upside down.

Also new to the game is the ability to slide, much like in Respawn‘s Apex Legends. Another new addition is special weather events that can change the course of a battle. Huge tornados that players can use to float across the map, or escape a firefight will now spawn randomly during games.
At the time of writing, Fortnite is currently unplayable in anticipation of the new update. Players logging into the game will instead see a character floating in the water, just outside of the new map. It’s unclear when the game will be playable again, but data mines suggest it will be late Sunday, December 5.
Epic announced recently that it had acquired Rock Band and Dance Central creator Harmonix “to create musical journeys and gameplay for Fortnite”.
Alain Tascan, Epic’s vice president of game development, said: “Music is already bringing millions of people together in Fortnite, from our emotes to global concerts and events. Together with the Harmonix team we will transform how players experience music, going from passive listeners to active participants.”
