Fortnite Chapter 2 update released as story trailer shows new map
Epic launches revamped version of the battle royale game
A Fortnite Chapter 2 update is now available to download, while a new story trailer has revealed what’s in store for players in Season 1 of the revamped battle royale game.
Following hot on the heels of a leaked Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 Battle Pass trailer featuring an aquatic theme, a Fortnite Chapter 2 cinematic trailer has been released.
As previously rumoured, the launch trailer reveals the star of Fortnite Chapter 2 – a lush new island map, as well as four new characters, which you can view at the top of this page.
The game’s latest update, ushering in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1, is now available to download too.
In a post on its website, Epic says the new island features 13 fresh locations.
New features include the ability to heal teammates with the bandage bazooka and celebrate with group emotes.
The latest update also introduces a “streamlined” arsenal of upgradeable weapons.
Fortnite season X came to an end on Sunday night during a live event which saw the game’s original map sucked into a black hole.
The Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 Battle Pass trailer suggests water is set to play a significant role in the updated battle royale game. It features a waterfall, high-speed boat battles, plus characters swimming and fishing.
In one scene, a player is seen carrying what appears to be a downed teammate over their shoulders, while in another a player conceals themselves in a dumpster before springing out to surprise opponents.
The trailer also promises “new ways to level up” including upgradeable battle, survival and scavenger medals.
Epic recently introduced a skill-based matchmaking system for Fortnite battle royale’s core modes in a bid to create a more even playing field and said it plans to add bots to Fortnite’s non-competitive playlists starting in Chapter 2 Season 1.
