Former PlayStation production boss Connie Booth has joined EA
The Sony veteran has been appointed as group general manager of EA’s action RPG portfolio
Former PlayStation head of internal production, Connie Booth, has joined Electronic Arts.
The veteran producer, who was one of the key figures behind Sony Interactive Entertainment’s first-party strategy prior to her departure last year, is joining EA to help lead its studios, IGN reports.
In her new role as group general manager, action RPG, she’ll oversee Dead Space remake and Iron Man studio EA Motive, Black Panther developer Cliffhanger Games, and Dragon Age and Mass Effect house BioWare.
Booth will report to EA Entertainment head Laura Miele, who said: “Connie spent more than 30 years helping to build Sony Interactive Entertainment’s internal studios and is responsible for guiding the development of some of their biggest franchises, including Marvel’s Spider-Man 1 & 2, The Last of Us, Ghost of Tsushima, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, to name just a few.
“She is known for having created an incredible developer-first culture and supporting creative vision while driving innovation. I have known Connie for many years and have always been impressed by her love and commitment to games.
“She especially cares about game developers. She has an impeccable reputation within the development community and will undoubtedly have a positive impact on our games.”
Booth spent over 26 years at PlayStation, where she was involved in the production of over 100 games, starting with the original Crash Bandicoot, on which she was a senior producer.
Over the years, she was also involved in production on such series as Spyro the Dragon, Syphon Filter, SOCOM, Jak and Daxter, inFamous, Resistance, Sly Cooper and Death Stranding.
It’s unclear why Booth left Sony, which confirmed her departure last October.
Her appointment comes amid wider restructuring at EA, which last month announced plans to lay off approximately 5% of its global workforce.
