Former Dragon Age creative director’s new game receives a teaser trailer ahead of full reveal
Mike Laidlaw’s Yellow Brick Games will self-publish the fantasy action adventure game in 2025
Yellow Brick Games has released a teaser trailer for its debut title, a fantasy action adventure game scheduled to be fully revealed next month.
Chief creative officer Mike Laidlaw, who is best known as the former creative director of the Dragon Age franchise, co-founded the independent studio in Quebec City, Canada, in February 2020.
His co-founders were fellow AAA industry veterans Thomas Giroux (CEO), Jeff Skalski (COO, executive producer) and Frédéric St-Laurent B. (game director), all of whom previously worked at Ubisoft, on titles including Watch Dogs and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate.
Yellow Brick’s first game, which was created by a team of 68 people, is set to be revealed in further detail next month ahead of its release in 2025.
While it was originally due to be released by Take-Two publishing label Private Division, Yellow Brick announced on Wednesday that it’s fully transitioning to self-publishing.
“Self-publishing is a leap of faith, especially in the current turbulent industry climate, but it’s also an opportunity to take our destiny into our own hands and reach out directly to players and the wider gaming community during this release,” said Laidlaw.
“Our team has been hard at work for years, and we can’t wait to showcase our debut project to the world. It’s a huge milestone for us, and we see it as just the first step on what we hope will be a long and rewarding journey for the company, charting our own path, and growing our talents and products brick by brick.”
