Football club outfits and a Pelé emote are coming to Fortnite this week

The beautiful game is coming to Fortnite this week with Epic Games set to release outfits for 23 football (soccer) teams and a Pelé emote.

Available from January 23, the new Kickoff Set will let players select 10 different variants of male and female outfits which can be swapped to any of the 23 global clubs (listed below) participating in the promotion.

Pelé’s Air Punch Emote will also be available in the item shop on January 23.

Players can take a chance to win the Kickoff Set and Air Punch Emote ahead of their official release by competing in the Pelé Cup on January 20.

Epic has also launched a new football-inspired Fortnite Creative island, which features a 4v4 bracket style game mode in which players “use their bodies, Pickaxes, power-ups, speed boosts and more to try to outscore their opponents”.

Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 5 arrived in December, bringing together “the greatest hunters across all realities” including The Mandalorian and Baby Yoda, God of War’s Kratos and Halo’s Master Chief, as did 120 FPS support on next-gen consoles.

Earlier in January Epic acquired the Cary Towne Center shopping mall in North Carolina, which it will transform into its new headquarters.

It also announced the acquisition of Rad Game Tools, the game development tools maker behind the Bink video codec, Oodle data compression and Telemetry performance visualisation system.
