Following years of delays, Dead Island 2 finally has a release date
The zombie action RPG will be released in February 2023
The long-awaited Dead Island 2 will finally be released next year, publisher Deep Silver has announced.
The zombie action RPG sequel is available to pre-order now ahead of its February 3, 2023 release date.
According to the new trailers below, it will be available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Stadia, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
As recently leaked, the game will take place in Los Angeles and feature six playable characters.
“Los Angeles is in quarantine and the military have retreated,” reads an official product description. “Only you, and the handful of others who happen to be resistant to the pathogen, holds the future of the city (and humanity), in the balance.
“Dead Island 2 is stylish, vibrant and flooded with zombie infection. Explore iconic, gore-drenched Los Angeles. Meet larger-than-life characters. Slay countless foes in exquisitely bloody detail. And evolve to become the ultimate Zombie Slayer!”
Players who pre-purchase the game will receive access to the Memories of Banoi DLC pack, featuring two unique weapons, a special weapon perk and skill card.
Dead Island 2 was first announced in 2014 and has since suffered a series of delays and changes of developer.
It was originally in the works at Spec Ops: The Line studio Yager before development duties were taken over by Sumo Digital. Dambuster, an internal Deep Silver studio, then took over development in 2019.
