Foamstars’ next season will be its last, Square Enix has announced
“We hope you will continue to enjoy Foamstars for many years to come,” its producer says
The next season of Square Enix’s free-to-play game Foamstars will be its last.
In a message posted on its official website, Square Enix has confirmed that the Party Goes On season, which starts on December 13 and lasts until January 17, 2025, will be the final new season of content.
The game will continue to run, however, with Square Enix making the previous seasons available again for players to work through if they missed them before.
“In this concluding update, expansions will be introduced to enhance gameplay, such as the ability to customize shots of each character, and new enhancement elements, such as Prism Gems, all aimed at ensuring players can continue to enjoy the game for the foreseeable future,” it says.
All online services will remain available after the Party Goes On season ends,” it adds. “In addition, we plan to hold the Foamstars Cup, a series of in-game events named after each character.
“Furthermore, to ensure that new players can fully enjoy Foamstars, previous Season Passes will be made available again. Players can switch between Season Passes at any time to proceed along the Season Pass track of your choice and obtain items from past seasons. This will make it possible for players to obtain all the items from each season.”
Although old Season Passes will be returning, they will still be in basic and premium forms, meaning players will still have to pay for the Premium Pass to get all the rewards.

In a letter to players, the game’s producer Kosuke Okatani thanked fans for playing and said he hoped they “will continue to enjoy Foamstars for many years to come”.
“I don’t want this to sound like a final message since you will be able to continue playing the game,” he stressed.
“Since the game’s release on February 6, 2024, the development team has been working tirelessly to add new content and features, striving to bring the game as close as possible to that goal.
“Throughout both the development and operational phases, we have faced many challenges. However, the support of all of you who play the game, along with the incredible fan art, has been a constant source of encouragement for the team. It’s because of this support that we’ve been able to overcome these difficulties, always with the goal of responding to your feedback.”
The full details on the upcoming rotation of content such as Extreme Parties and Ranked Parties can be found on the Square Enix website.
Foamstars, which was previously being sold on the PlayStation Store for $30 / £25, went free-to-play to all users on October 4.
According to publisher Square Enix, Foamstars underperformed following its release. It, alongside Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Final Fantasy 16, was blamed by the Japanese giant for weaker than expected financial results.
