Flight Simulator is getting a free GOTY update alongside its first paid expansion
A host of fresh content will launch alongside a new competitive multiplayer racing experience
Xbox has announced Microsoft Flight Simulator Game of the Year Edition alongside a release date for the game’s first major expansion.
Flight Simulator: Game of the Year Edition will be released on November 18 as a free update for existing players, including Game Pass members.
It will include five new aircraft, eight fresh airports, new missions and tutorials, an updated weather system and DX12 support.
Flight Simulator: Game of the Year Edition will be released alongside the game’s first major expansion, Reno Air Races, which will bring the STIHL National Championship Air Races and competitive multiplayer racing to the title.
Billed as “the world’s fastest motorsport”, many of the planes included in the expansion can fly up to 500 miles per hour at an altitude of 50-250 foot above ground.
The Reno Air Races: Expansion Pack will include the game’s online multiplayer racing experience plus four starter aircraft for $19.99.
For $59.99, the Reno Air Races: Full Collection will include the online racing experience and 40 officially licensed aircraft.
A Flight Simulator Top Gun expansion originally scheduled for release in 2021 was recently delayed after the Top Gun: Maverick movie slipped to next year. The film and game expansion will now arrive on May 27, 2022.
