Flight Simulator console release date and Top Gun expansion confirmed
Game hits Xbox Series X/S on July 27
Microsoft has confirmed that Flight Simulator will be released for Xbox Series X/S on July 27, 2021.
The game will be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.
Microsoft has also revealed plans for a Flight Simulator Top Gun expansion coming later this year.
“The Microsoft Flight Simulator team also announced today a one-of-a-kind expansion in partnership with Paramount Studios to coincide with the exciting launch of the new Top Gun: Maverick movie,” it said in the blurb accompanying the reveal trailer above.
“More details on the experience will be revealed as the November 19 premiere of the movie and release of the expansion draw closer.”
Flight Simulator released for PC in August 2020 and recorded the biggest launch in the franchise’s near 38-year history, according to Microsoft.
“Simmers on Xbox Series X|S can pre-order and pre-install the experience now and expect the same level of depth as the PC version, with the most authentic and realistic flight simulator we have ever created,” Microsoft said on Xbox Wire.
“From light planes to wide-body jets, you’ll test your piloting skills against the challenges of real-time weather, including accurate worldwide cloud cover and cloud layers, wind speed and direction, temperature, humidity, rain, and lightning – all in a dynamic and living world.
