First Play: Watch as we play through the opening section of Avowed
Watch the first 40 minutes of Avowed, with a 60-minute version for Patreon subscribers
Avowed is out today (for those who bought the Premium Edition), and we’ve captured the opening section for you to watch in a First Play video.
As the name suggests, our First Play video was recorded when we first received review code for the game a week or two ago, and has us giving our first impressions as we play through it.
There are two versions of the video – one for YouTube viewers and one for our Patreon subscribers.
The standard YouTube version, which can be found below, is 40 minutes long and shows the opening section of the game, as we encounter someone in jail then try to find a boat to reach the game’s first main area.
Patreon subscribers on any paid tier can gain access to a longer 60-minute ad-free version of the video, which continues for a further 20 minutes as we explore this new area and take on our first side quest.
Avowed will be released on Xbox Series X/S and PC on February 18, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
However, players who buy the Premium Edition of the game get early access starting today.
VGC’s Avowed review says it “may not be the next groundbreaking evolution of the action RPG genre, but when it’s this entertaining it really doesn’t have to be.”
“Avowed is a solid action RPG with an entertaining script, satisfying combat and impressively detailed environments,” we said. “The inability to clean up side quests after the main story is beaten can be frustrating, but take your time with it and enjoy everything it has to offer, and you’ll find plenty of memorable moments.”
