Final Fantasy VIII Remastered coming in 2019

Time to dust off the old gunblade

Final Fantasy VII wasn’t the only Square Enix classic shown some love Monday as the company announced that Final Fantasy VIII Remastered will arrive on consoles and PC later this year.

The publisher says the remaster “brings the game’s classic story to modern platforms, now with newly rendered visuals that bring the game’s characters to life like never before”.

Players will get to relive Squall’s fight against the Galbadian forces before the end of 2019 when Final Fantasy VIII Remastered releases for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

They’ll have to have to wait a little longer for Final Fantasy VII Remake, which will release exclusively for PS4 on March 3, 2020.

Square Enix opened its E3 2019 presentation Monday with plenty of details about Final Fantasy VII Remake’s combat and gameplay.

It also reiterated that the game will be released episodically. The title’s first episode will encompass the original’s story through leaving Midgard.

An extended Final Fantasy VII Remake trailer was released too, including our first look at Tifa.
