Final Fantasy 16 gets a September release date for PC
And a free demo is available to try now
Square Enix has announced a release date for the PC version of Final Fantasy 16.
Originally released for PS5 in June 2023, it will make the jump to PC on September 17, 2024, with the base game priced at $49.99 / £44.99 via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Final Fantasy 16 Complete Edition, which includes the base game plus its story expansions Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide, is priced at $69.99 / £64.99.
Square Enix has today also launched a free demo for the PC version of the game, and a new trailer which is viewable below.
The demo will allow players to sample the opening section of Final Fantasy 16 and carry over their save data to the full version of the game.
“An epic dark fantasy where fates are decided by mighty Eikons and the Dominants who wield them,” reads the description accompanying the new trailer.
“This is the tale of Clive Rosfield, a tragic warrior who swears revenge on the Dark Eikon Ifrit, a mysterious entity that leaves naught but calamity in its wake.”
VGC’s Final Fantasy 16 review called it “an incredible action game that doesn’t quite deliver the RPG heritage”.
Square Enix president Takashi Kiryu said in April that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Final Fantasy 16 and Foamstars had all sold less than expected.
