Final Fantasy 14’s Xbox open beta release window has been announced

Square Enix has given a release window for the upcoming Xbox open beta of Final Fantasy 14.

A tweet on the official Final Fantasy 14 Twitter account announced that the beta will be coming early next year.

“Mark your calendars, Xbox fans,” the tweet reads. “The Final Fantasy 14 Xbox Series X/S open beta test is scheduled to begin mid-January to February.”

Final Fantasy 14 will officially be launching on Microsoft‘s consoles in Spring 2024, but the open beta will be the first change for Xbox players to finally get their hands on the long-running MMO.

It was officially announced back in June that the game was coming to Series X and S, when Xbox boss Phil Spencer made a surprise appearance at the Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival in Las Vegas.

According to Xbox, the Series X version of the game will support 4K graphics, while both the Series X and Series S versions will benefit from fast loading times.

The Expanded Free Trial, which is available on PC and PlayStation consoles, will also be applicable on Xbox too.

This means players will be able to play through the entirety of the base game A Realm Reborn, as well as its first two expansions Heavensward and Stormblood, up to level 70 with no restrictions on playtime.

Once players reach level 70, they’ll then have to pay a monthly fee to continue playing the game.

The latest major patch for the game was released earlier this month. Version 6.5 saw the Duty Support feature being added to the last of the game’s main scenario dungeons, meaning players can finally play through the entire main quest storyline for the base game and all its DLC as a single-player experience (with NPC party members).
