FIFA 20 records UK’s biggest sales launch of 2019
Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age, Code Vein and The Surge 2 also make chart debuts
FIFA 20 has recorded the biggest physical launch week sales of 2019 in the UK, taking the crown from Borderlands 3.
Physical sales of EA‘s game were down 7% compared to FIFA 19’s launch week, according to GamesIndustry.biz.
The PS4 version of the title accounted for 61% of launch week sales, the Xbox One edition for 38%, and the Nintendo Switch ‘Legacy’ version for 1%.
Other new entries in the top 40 last week included Square Enix’s Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age at No.11, Bandai Namco’s Code Vein at No.13 and, Focus Home Interactive‘s The Surge 2 at No.35.
Physical game sales are down 15.5% in the UK year-to-date. A total of 816,985 boxed games were sold at UK retail last week, which is less than FIFA 18 alone sold during its launch week in 2018.
