A Fallout TV series is coming from the creators of Westworld
Bethesda partners with Amazon Studios for TV adaptation
Bethesda has announced a collaboration with Amazon Studios for a Fallout television series.
In a 23-second video published on Thursday, the Elder Scrolls publisher confirmed it’s working on an “Amazon Original” with Kilter Films, the production company behind HBO’s Westworld, related to Fallout.
A follow up story from The Hollywood Reporter claims the project is currently in the development stage and does not have a writer attached.
Westworld creators Lisa Joy and Jonah Nolan will exec produce the Fallout series via Kilter Films, along with Bethesda Game Studios’ Todd Howard and Bethesda Softworks‘ James Altman.
“Fallout is one of the greatest game series of all time,” Joy and Nolan said in a joint statement. “Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends.
“So we’re incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios.”
Todd Howard added: “Over the last decade, we looked at many ways to bring Fallout to the screen. “But it was clear from the moment I first spoke with Jonah and Lisa a few years ago, that they and the team at Kilter were the ones to do it right.
“We’re enormous fans of their work and couldn’t be more excited to work with them and Amazon Studios.”
Fallout is the latest major game series to be adapted for television. Last year Netflix debuted a successful The Witcher series starring Henry Cavill, while Sony recently signed a deal with HBO to bring The Last of Us to TV.
