Fallout 76 Wastelanders update and Steam release date confirmed

Game launching on Valve’s storefront alongside major update in April

Bethesda will release Fallout 76’s Wastelanders update on April 7 for PC, Xbox One and PS4.

Originally scheduled to launch in 2019, the Wastelanders expansion “changes the entire world” with the addition of human NPCs.

Free for all players, the update also introduces a brand-new main questline, plus fresh locations, enemies and weapons.

Alongside the Wastelanders update, Bethesda will release two premium Faction-themed content bundles featuring exclusive cosmetic and C.A.M.P. items.

Fallout 76 will also be available on Steam for the first time from April 7.

Wastelanders key features

  • New Main Quest and Revamped Original Main Quest: Uncover the secrets of West Virginia by playing through an all-new main quest as well as a revamped original main quest line – with friends or solo – starting from the moment you leave Vault 76. New and veteran players alike will take on new missions, explore new locations and fight with (or against) the new faces that have made their long-awaited return to West Virginia.
  • Human NPCs: Befriend or betray new neighbours who have come to rebuild, and experience Appalachia through the eyes of its residents.
  • New Creatures and Gear: Take down newly mutated creatures finding their way to the region and earn the highest tier of weapons and armor.
  • Choices and Reputation: Alter the fates of those you meet with classic dialogue trees. Decisions affect your standing with each faction through an all-new reputation system.

Bethesda introduced a premium subscription model for private Fallout 76 servers in October 2019.

Subscribers can pay $12.99/£11.99 per month or $99/£99.99 annually to play the game solo or with up to seven friends in a private world.
