Fable is officially in development for Xbox Series X
Teaser trailer debuted during Games Showcase
Microsoft has confirmed a new Fable game is in development for Xbox Series X and PC.
The game was announced via a brief trailer premiered during Thursday’s Xbox Games Showcase and marks “a new beginning for the legendary franchise,” according to Xbox.
As had previously been mentioned in several media reports, the game is in development at UK-based Forza Horizon developer Playground Games, which has been staffing up for an RPG project for several years.
So far it’s snapped up Anthem‘s lead environment artist, Ghost Recon Wildlands’ lead character artist, Hellblade’s lead animator, Metal Gear Solid V’s project manager and more.
It’s also hired a number of Rocksteady Games’ Arkham Knight scriptwriting team for the project.
In total, around 200 people are understood to be working on the game at Playground’s new Leamington Spa studio.
Xbox parent Microsoft announced it had acquired Playground in June 2018, following the release of several successful Forza Horizon titles.
