F-Zero: GP Legend and the Japan-only F-Zero Climax are coming to Switch Online’s GBA library
F-Zero 99 has also received five new tracks from the Satellaview version of F-Zero
Nintendo has announced that two classic Game Boy Advance F-Zero games are coming to Switch Online.
F-Zero: GP Legend and F-Zero Climax are both coming to the GBA library on Switch Online on October 11.
The pair will join F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, which is already on the service, making all three GBA F-Zero games available on Switch.
F-Zero GP Legend was released on the GBA in 2003 and is based on the anime of the same name, featuring both Grand Prix and Story modes.
F-Zero Climax was released in 2004 and played similarly to GP Legend. It was the last game in the series until the release of F-Zero 99 last year.
The addition of F-Zero Climax is a particularly notable one because it was only released in Japan, meaning its addition to Switch Online next week will mark the first time the game has officially been made available outside of Japan.
As well as the addition of the GBA games, Nintendo has also released a free update for F-Zero 99 today which adds five new tracks to the game.
The update adds a new Ace League Grand Prix, which includes five tracks from the Satellaview version of F-Zero, which was only available on the Super Famicom in Japan.
F-Zero 99 is available to all Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, but the GBA games will require the Switch Online Expansion Pack.
NES, SNES, Game Boy and Game Boy Color games are available as part of the standard Switch Online subscription, which costs $19.99 / £17.99 / €19.99 for a 12-month individual membership.
However, to play Game Boy Advance games (as well as Mega Drive / Genesis and Nintendo 64 games), players need to have the Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription, which costs $49.99 / £34.99 / €39.99.
