Existing Zelda amiibo will change Link’s parasail design in Tears of the Kingdom
Players can also change the parasail fabric at a shop
Nintendo has revealed some of the amiibo functionality for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
If players scan one of Nintendo’s existing Zelda-themed amiibo, they may get a special ‘parasail fabric’ based on the character they scanned.
If they scan the Majora’s Mask Link amiibo, for example, the game will unlock a parasail design that looks like Majora’s Mask itself.
Meanwhile, scanning the Twilight Princess Link on horseback amiibo, the Zelda and Loftwing amiibo or the new Tears of the Kingdom Link amiibo will unlock parasail designs based on those specific games.
The unlocks were revealed in a tweet made by the official Japanese account for The Legend of Zelda series, which added that players could also customise their parasail fabric elsewhere in the game.
“If you touch an amiibo in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you may get materials and weapons, as well as a special ‘parasail fabric’ depending on the character you touched”, it said, adding: “At a certain shop, you can change the fabric of the parasail.”
Nintendo confirmed yesterday that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be priced at $69.99, which is $10 more than it usually prices first-party Switch titles.
In addition to the standard $70 version, a Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition will be released at a suggested retail price of $129.99. It includes a physical version of the game, an artbook with concept art, a Steelbook case, an Iconart steel poster and a set of four pin badges.
Alongside a fresh trailer for the game, Nintendo has also released 27 new The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom screenshots.
