Eidos Montreal confirms it has been helping with the development of Fable

Eidos Montreal has been helping with the development of Fable, it’s been confirmed.
Following the release of the game’s latest trailer, the official Eidos Montreal account on X posted that the studio was supporting developer Playground Games with the making of the RPG.
“We’re so excited to be supporting the development of Fable,” the message reads.
“It’s been a blast collaborating with the talented team at Playground Games to craft an unforgettable adventure.”
The last Eidos Montreal game released was 2021’s Guardians of the Galaxy, which was met with a generally positive critical response but didn’t meet Square Enix’s sales expectations.
Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier originally reported back in 2022 that Eidos Montreal was working on a number of projects, including “co-dev partnerships with Xbox including Fable“.
A year ago the game’s narrative lead, Anna Megil, left the project to pursue something new.
Megil, who had worked previously on Guild Wars 2, Dishonored and Control, said on X that she’d “had several wonderful years scribbling away in my fairytale cottage, but the time feels right for new challenges.”
“Working on Fable was a dream come true for me, and it’s wrenching to leave it behind. But Playground has assembled a Heroically talented team, so I know it’s in good hands. I’m excited for what’s coming next—for them and for me,” Megil said at the time.
