Some bittersweet news: after five years at Future and three truly life-changing years at Edge, this month will be my last as editor of the magazine. I’ll be sending the current issue to print, then the annual “short” issue, and then I’m off to pastures new.

Edge magazine editor Jen Simpkins announces departure
Simpkins is the respected UK publication’s second editor to leave this year
The editor of Edge magazine, Jen Simpkins, has announced her departure after three years at the respected UK publication.
In an announcement published via Twitter, Simpkins thanked her colleagues and said she would soon announce her next job role.
“This month will be my last as editor of the magazine. I’ll be sending the current issue to print, then the annual ‘short’ issue, and then I’m off to pastures new,” she wrote.
“It only makes sense to leave a dream job for a dream job, and I am *beyond* excited to tell you where I’m heading next very soon. (I’ll make sure any ongoing Edge projects smoothly transition to the next head honcho – so don’t worry if we’ve been working on something together!)”
It’s the second major departure from the Future Publishing-owned magazine this year. Edge’s previous editor, Nathan Brown, left the publication in April after five years in charge.
Edge veteran Tony Mott remains at Future as the editorial director of its games division.
