EA’s online gaming services are currently experiencing problems
Games including Apex Legends and FIFA having connection issues
Electronic Arts has said its online gaming services are currently experiencing problems.
“Something’s up with our online services, but we’re on it,” reads a message on the company’s help website.
“In the meantime, you might not be able to connect to online modes, buy games on Origin, or log in to your account. We’ll get you back in your game as soon as we can.”
UPDATE: EA said at 11.27am PT / 2.27pm ET / 7.27pm BST that it was “starting to see recovery with the connection issues”.
ORIGINAL STORY CONTINUES: The issues will most significantly impact online-only games such as Respawn’s hit battle royale title Apex Legends.
EA said earlier this month that Apex Legends averaged more than 13 million weekly active players during Season 9, and that the game set a new record for peak daily players across all seasons.
A significant number of Apex Legends players have recently reported that the game isn’t saving their progress online.
In a ‘mega thread’ that was started in the game’s bug reports forum over the weekend, hundreds of players have been posting claims that the shooter is failing to track any progress made, leaving them stuck at the same level.
According to various claims, any XP, ranking points or badges collected are disappearing, as if the game is rolling back to what the player’s status was before their session started.
EA’s support team has acknowledged the problem and said it’s currently being investigated.
