EA’s Motive Studio confirms new single-player Iron Man game

Electronic Arts’ Motive Studio has announced that it’s working on an Iron Man game.

Developed in collaboration with Marvel Games, the single-player, third-person, action-adventure title is currently in the pre-production phase.

The game’s development team is being led by executive producer Olivier Proulx, who previously worked on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy at Eidos Montreal.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with the talented team at Motive Studio to bring their original vision of one of Marvel’s most important, powerful and beloved characters,” said Marvel Games vice president and creative director Bill Rosemann.

“Their experience delivering both established entertainment worlds and thrilling gameplay — combined with their authentic passion for the armored icon — will fuel our quest to deliver a love letter to a legendary hero in the form of the ultimate Iron Man video game.”

Motive, which previously developed Star Wars Squadrons, is currently handling EA‘s Dead Space remake.

“It’s an honor and privilege to have the opportunity to make a video game based on one of the most iconic super heroes in entertainment today,” said Iron Man exec producer Proulx. “We have a great opportunity to create a new and unique story that we can call our own. Marvel is encouraging us to create something fresh. We have a lot of freedom, which is so engaging for the team.”

EA said the Iron Man project “is the first of several new games” being created through a collaboration with Marvel.

The company is also reportedly making a single-player, open-world Black Panther game. It was recently claimed that the project is in the early stages of development at a new studio headed by former Monolith Productions boss Kevin Stephens.

The Dead Space remake will be released  in January 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Built from the ground up with the Frostbite engine, it promises to deliver “an improved story, characters, gameplay mechanics and more”, which could include content cut from the original game and features introduced in the sequels.
