EA Sports FC is getting a turn-based tactical spin-off

EA has announced a turn-based spin-off game based on its EA Sports FC series (formerly known as FIFA).

EA Sports FC Tactical is coming to iOS and Android in early 2024, and replaces the typical EA Sports FC gameplay with “strategic, turn-based gameplay”, according to EA.

The game “emphasises in-game strategies, such as stamina and power-play management,” EA says.

“Matches are simulated, with turn-based opportunities to defend, attack, perform skill moves, and make attempts on target, resulting in authentic football action like never before.”

The game will feature more than 5000 real players across more than 10 leagues, including the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Serie A.

“EA Sports FC Tactical will include a wide range of playable modes, from online friendly matches to intense online competitions, including Rank matches, Leagues, and Guilds,” EA’s description reads.

“Train players to master high-skill moves, unlock perfect traits for deeper progression, and customise your team with various items like stadium designs, kits, and balls.”

The game can be pre-registered now on the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store.

EA Sports FC 24 was released in late September for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.

The game has made a strong start, according to EA, perhaps even bettering last year’s FIFA 23 launch.

EA Sports FC 24 attracted “more than 11.3 million players worldwide, including through EA Play”, during its first week, the company claimed recently.

In comparison, a similar press release announcing last year’s “record-breaking launch of FIFA 23” said the game reached 10.3 million players in its first week.
