EA Sports FC 25 is getting a major gameplay overhaul this week

EA Sports FC 25 is set to receive the franchise’s most significant mid-season gameplay overhaul to date

Launching on January 16, the Gameplay Refresh Update (Title Update 8) will include some of the most sought-after community requests, according to publisher EA.

It will feature more than 50 changes, many of which are detailed in the latest Pitch Notes blog.

EA said players can expect to see:

  • Major updates to core gameplay systems like passing, shooting, goalkeeping, and defending.
  • More offensively fluid gameplay enabling you to move the ball easier.
  • Reduced tacklebacks and AI interceptions.
  • Addressed issues like defenders catching up to dribblers too often.
  • Updated Rush Club Search in Football Ultimate Team.

EA Sports FC 25 was the best-selling game of the year in Europe, according to official sales data published on VGC today.

However, the series had a slightly softer launch this year, with EA Sports FC 25’s sales down 5% compared to what FC 24 managed during the same period.

In the US, EA Sports FC 25 topped September’s software chart following a record launch, according to data from market research firm Circana.

The game saw double-digit percentage growth compared to EA Sports FC 24 during its launch month in September 2023.

That was enough to see it record the highest US launch month dollar sales of any football (soccer) game released to date.

Circana is scheduled to report US sales data for December and the full year on January 23.
