EA games coming to Steam including Apex Legends and EA Access
But Origin client still required to play
EA has announced it will bring its games to Steam, starting with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order on November 15.
The EA Access subscription service will also launch on Steam in spring 2020, the company said on Tuesday. Other EA titles such as Apex Legends, The Sims 4, FIFA 20, Battlefield V and Unravel 2 will arrive “in the coming months.”
EA titles are currently exclusive to the company’s Origin platform on PC.
The publisher said in its announcement that both Origin and Steam players will be able to play together, however Steam players will still be required to download the Origin client and create an EA account.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is available to pre-order now on Steam.
EA Access is the first gaming subscription service available on Steam, and the fourth platform the EA service has launched on, following Xbox One, Origin and most recently PS4.
“This is the start of an exciting partnership with Valve that will see us innovating for PC players around the world,” said EA CEO Andrew Wilson in a statement.
“Through our subscription, great games and more, we’re excited to bring players in the Steam and Origin communities together with access to the best games, whenever and wherever they want to play.”
“This is a good day for gamers,” added Valve’s Gabe Newell.
“We’re excited to partner with EA to not only bring their great games and subscription service to Steam, but also to open up our communities to each other in an unprecedented way that will benefit players and developers around the world.”
