EA Access members get Jedi: Fallen Order cosmetics ‘instead of’ early game trial
Publisher says decision was made in part to try and contain spoilers
EA Access members won’t get to play Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order ahead of its official release as publisher EA claims it wants to reduce the risk of spoilers.
One of the subscription service’s headline features is the ability to play new EA titles before launch day, with save progress carrying over to the full game if users choose to purchase it.
But there’ll be no early access to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which is available from Friday November 15 on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Instead, EA Access members will receive some exclusive Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order cosmetics
EA says the decision was made in part to avoid spoilers being published, but there’s already plenty of newly leaked information about the game being posted on social media platforms such as Reddit.
The third-person action-adventure game is directed by God of War 3 creative director Stig Asmussen, with a narrative created by Aaron Contreras (Mafia III) and Chris Avellone (Knight of the Old Republic 2).
It sees players take on the role of young Padawan Cal Kestis, who is played by Shameless and Gotham actor Cameron Monaghan.
The game is available to pre-order from retailers including Amazon, Best Buy and Game, among others.
Microsoft is also selling new Xbox One X ($499/£449.99) and Xbox One S ($299/£249.99) Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order console bundles.
EA recently announced that it will release its games on Steam, starting with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order on November 15. The EA Access subscription service will also launch on Steam in spring 2020.
