Dragon’s Dogma 2 release date announced as part of new product showcase
Capcom’s action RPG sequel arrives in March 2024
Capcom has announced Dragon’s Dogma 2’s release date.
A March 22, 2024 release date was confirmed on Tuesday as part of a dedicated product showcase, which is viewable below.
Presented by director Hideaki Itsuno and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, the livestream featured plenty of fresh gameplay footage including the reveal of new monsters like Talos (pictured above), a giant who emerges from the sea.
Capcom also provided an overview of the story and an introduction to some central characters and quest details.
“Dragon’s Dogma is a tale of the Arisen, whose heart is taken by the dragon,” said Hirabayashi. “While this sequel mirrors the world setting of the first game, the adventure takes place in a parallel world.”
Pre-orders for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC game start today, with the title available in Standard and Deluxe editions.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 was announced last year during a live stream celebrating the original game’s 10th anniversary.
In a recent hands-on Dragon’s Dogma 2 preview, VGC said the sequel “feels a lot like the first game, and that’s a good thing”.
“So far, Dragon’s Dogma 2 certainly feels a lot like the game that has come before it, though we have to bear in mind it’s still the first playable build at a relatively early part of the game,” our writer said.
“As long as it remains weird for all the reasons its most hardcore fans have championed it all these years, that’s no bad thing at all.”
