Dragon Quest 12 is still coming, series creator Yuji Horii promises
Yuji Horii has assured Dragon Quest fans that the 12th game is still in development
The creator of the Dragon Quest series has assured fans that the twelfth game is still in development.
Square Enix announced five new Dragon Quest games back in 2021, one of which was Dragon Quest 12.
Nothing has been heard about the game since then, leading some to worry about its current status, but series creator Yuji Horii recently held a livestream on his radio show in which he confirmed the game was still actively being developed.
As reported by Automaton, Horii promised that Square Enix is still “working hard on Dragon Quest 12”, and that he plans to release more information about the game little by little.
One of the other games announced back in 2021 alongside Dragon Quest 12 was the HD-2D remake of Dragon Quest 3, which was eventually released last November.
Last year the game’s development studio, known informally as Team Asano, said it regretted announcing the game so early, suggesting it may have jumped the gun by announcing it three and a half years before it was eventually released.

It has since announced that HD-2D remakes of the original Dragon Quest and Dragon Quest 2 are in development, set to be released as a single package.
Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake was Japan’s best-selling game last year, selling more than 820,000 copies in its first week alone.
It would eventually be the only game in Japan to sell more than 1 million physical copies last year, with only Super Mario Party Jamboree coming close with 954,000 physical copies sold.
