Another report claims BioWare’s fantasy RPG won’t include live service elements

Dragon Age 4 is reportedly on schedule and could be released in 2023

Dragon Age 4 development is reportedly on schedule ahead of a potential release in 2023.

That’s according to VentureBeat sources said to be familiar with BioWare’s fantasy RPG.

While publisher EA declined to comment on the report, it has previously said the game could be released in 2023.

Speaking in October 2019, EA said it didn’t expect to release the next Dragon Age game before its fiscal year 2023, which begins on April 1, 2022.

“You should assume that Dragon Age—it’s out there, we’ve talked about it publicly that it’s in the works—it probably comes after fiscal 22,” EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said.

BioWare released the first full Dragon Age 4 trailer in December 2020.

“We’re still in early production but we thought it was time to give you the very first look at how BioWare’s passionate team of developers are crafting this very special game,” it said at the time.

It was claimed earlier this year that EA had allowed BioWare to drop all planned live service elements from Dragon Age 4 and that the game would primarily be a single player adventure.

While VentureBeat’s report backs this up, the publication notes that the game could still feature an online multiplayer component, which was a key feature introduced in the last series entry, 2014’s Dragon Age: Inquisition.

BioWare confirmed earlier this month that Dragon Age 4 and Mass Effect 4 wouldn’t be shown at the EA Play Live event which took place on Thursday.

A Dead Space remake, racing game Grid Legends, and Battlefield 2042’s Portal mode were revealed at last night’s EA showcase.
