Dragon Age 4 is reportedly coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC only
BioWare’s fantasy RPG is said to be skipping PS4 and Xbox One releases
Dragon Age 4 is reportedly planned for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC only.
The LinkedIn profile of a former BioWare employee who worked as lead player designer on the game lists these target platforms, and VentureBeat also claims to have independently confirmed that the game is not in development for PS4 or Xbox One.
BioWare’s most recent release, May 2021’s Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, was released for the older consoles and not for PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, but the studio’s parent company Electronic Arts is currently focusing on cross-gen launches such as this month’s FIFA 22 and the upcoming Battlefield 2042.
In July, it was claimed that Dragon Age 4 development was on schedule ahead of a potential release in 2023.
Speaking in October 2019, EA said it didn’t expect to release the next Dragon Age game before its fiscal year 2023, which begins on April 1, 2022.
“You should assume that Dragon Age—it’s out there, we’ve talked about it publicly that it’s in the works—it probably comes after fiscal 22,” EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said.
BioWare released the first full Dragon Age 4 trailer in December 2020.
“We’re still in early production but we thought it was time to give you the very first look at how BioWare’s passionate team of developers are crafting this very special game,” it said at the time.
