Doom Eternal trailer released as programmer calls it ‘our best game ever’
Delayed shooter to release on March 20
Id Software has released a new Doom Eternal trailer, as the game’s lead programmer proclaims the shooter is “the best game we have ever made.”
Eternal was delayed by four months to March 20, 2020 late last year, with Id claiming it needed more time to “live up to our standards of speed and polish.”
Writing on Twitter ahead of the new trailer’s release, lead programmer Billy Khan wrote:
“DOOM Eternal is the best game we have ever made. It is brilliant. I cannot wait for everyone to finally play it. It runs butter smooth. The combat is fluid as silk. idTech7 is pushing so much geometric detail. The image quality is bonkers. Get excited!”
Alongside the delay Id announced Invasion, a mode which will allow players to enter another player’s game as a playable demon, will release as a free update shortly after release.
It also confirmed that Doom 64 will be available for Xbox One, PS4 and PC in addition to Switch. Behtesda is adding Doom 64 as a pre-order bonus on all platforms.

Doom Eternal is available to pre-order at Amazon (US) and Game (UK), among other retailers.
