Here’s the first look at Doom Eternal’s ‘stunning’ ray-tracing mode

Nvidia and Id Software have published the first video showing Doom Eternal’s RTX ray-tracing mode.

The PC graphical feature will be added as part of a wider RTX update planned for release later this month, which will also add support for DLSS, the pair announced on Sunday.

DLSS is a feature exclusive to Nvidia’s RTX graphics cards and works by using AI to upscale the resolution of PC games, effectively allowing players to achieve higher graphical settings and better frame rates from their systems.

“Doom Eternal was built to deliver the very best in engaging first-person-shooter gameplay, stunning visuals and uncompromising performance,” said director Marty Stratton in a prepared statement.

“With the addition of ray tracing to idTech and support for NVIDIA DLSS, we’re pushing the engine in exciting new ways and we can’t wait for GeForce RTX gamers to experience it.”

Nvidia also announced on Sunday that Red Dead Redemption 2, Rainbow Six Siege and more will be adding DLSS support in the near future.

The new was shared as part of the Computex 2021 event, where it also announced a pair of new RTX cards; the 3080 Ti and 3070 Ti.

Launching June 3 with prices starting at $1199 / £1,049, 3080 Ti is said to be twice as fast as the GTX 1080 Ti in traditional rasterization at 4K. Meanwhile, 3070 Ti ($599 / £529) arrives on June 10 and is sait to be 1.5X faster than the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER.
