Don’t Nod is refocusing on wider audiences after Jusant failed to meet expectations
The studio’s next big game Lost Records: Bloom & Rage will be released in February
French publisher Don’t Nod has said that it plans to refocus its development plans to appeal to a wider audience after Jusant, and other titles, failed to reach expectations.
The publisher posted a note to investors reflecting on its last financial year, in which it claimed that both Jusant and Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden did not perform as well as the publisher had hoped.
“We are obviously disappointed by our recent performance in an extremely competitive and selective market,” it wrote.
“Despite an excellent critical reception, Jusant and Banishers: Ghosts of new Eden unfortunately did not achieve the commercial results we had hoped for, resulting in a deterioration in our 2024 half-year results and leading us to consider all possible options regarding our roadmap.”
The document says that two titles the company plans to release by the end of 2027 are being reworked to appeal to a wider range of players.
Don’t Nod’s next major title will be Lost Records: Bloom & Rage. The game is the first to be developed by Don’t Nod Montreal, a studio made up of the original creative team behind Life is Strange.
The game, which was announced during The Game Awards 2023 follows four friends who reunite after 27 years.
Lost Records: Bloom & Rage will be released across two parts, known as “tapes.” The first tape will be released on February 18, 2025, with the second tape to follow one month later.
