Donkey Kong Bananza is the next big 3D adventure coming to Nintendo Switch 2
The Nintendo mascot will come to Switch 2 in July

Nintendo has announced Donkey Kong Bananza, a new 3D action game for Nintendo Switch 2.
Revealed during the Switch 2 Nintendo Direct on Wednesday, Donkey Kong Bananza will release on July 17.
“Crash, bash, and climb through nearly everything in DK’s path and tear off chunks of terrain to swing around and throw in groundbreaking exploration,” Nintendo said.
“The more that is demolished with powerful punches, the more areas open up to discover. Break on through this adventure full of mayhem, surprises and bananas when Donkey Kong Bananza crashes onto Nintendo Switch 2 July 17.”
Donkey Kong is usually associated 2D side-scrolling platformers. As such, Donkey Kong Bananza marks only the second time Donkey Kong has starred in a 3D platformer, the first being Donkey Kong 64 on the Nintendo 64 back in 1999.
According to Nintendo, the game is set in Ingot Isle, an island where the “discovery of the century is in full swing”, with news of golden bananas being unearthed. Donkey Kong, being a lover of bananas, heads to Ingot Isle to see what’s going on.
Donkey Kong has to enter an unexplored underground world to find a special golden banana. “The scenery is so magnificent that it’s hard to believe it’s underground, with grasslands as far as the eye can see and wilderness dyed in the sunset,” Nintendo says.
Donkey Kong will also be accompanied by a mysterious purple rock character. Donkey Kong rescues the rock after finding it buried in the ground on Ingot Island, and the pair work together in the game.
