Dino Crisis fans aren’t happy the PlayStation release is subscription only
PlayStation Plus Premium costs $119.99 / £99.99 / €119.99
Dino Crisis has been released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 this week, and fans have criticised the decision to lock it to the PlayStation Plus Premium subscription, with no separate purchase available.
While some classic titles released on the PlayStation Store can be purchasable separately, Dino Crisis is exclusively available as part of the service’s highest tier, PlayStation Plus Premium.
Following the news that the game would only be released via this method, many fans took to social media to voice their frustration over the move.
PlayStation Plus Premium costs $119.99 / £99.99 / €119.99 per year.
Memes decrying Capcom‘s decision have been receiving thousands of likes on X, and replies to Capcom’s most recent posts are full of fans demanding the game be made purchasable.
Resident Evil Director’s Cut is also currently only included in the PlayStation Plus Premium subscription. It’s unknown if Capcom plans to offer the games via traditional sale in the future.
Series creator Shinji Mikami said recently that he was surprised to hear that fans want more Dino Crisis games.
“The awesomeness of dinosaurs and the stuff you can do with dinosaurs, that’s been kind of really nailed down by Monster Hunter in recent years,” he said.
Mikami went on to say that he wasn’t sure there was room for the series while Capcom’s Monster Hunter franchise remains so popular.
