DICE says Battlefield 2042’s beta is ‘a few months old’ and ‘amazing progress’ has been made

Electronic Arts has said Battlefield 2042’s beta is representative of an older version of the game and that players will notice significant improvements when the finished product is released.

Early access to the beta launched on Wednesday for EA Play members and pre-order customers, with the test set to be made available to all players on October 8.

Developer DICE has published a list of known issues that players may encounter during the beta, which is being updated throughout the test, including matchmaking errors and minor visual, performance, and graphical problems.

According to one of EA’s lead community managers, the “open beta is now a few months old”.

He added: “We polish and enhance it to make sure that it’s representative of the game we’ve built, but naturally we’re making daily improvements, changes, and enhancements all the time.”

This was echoed by DICE general manager Oskar Gabrielson, who said the game has come along significantly since the open beta build.

“We’ve made amazing progress over the last couple of months, including improvements to the visuals and stability that didn’t quite make it into the Open Beta build,” he tweeted.

“And we want you all to know that in these final few weeks leading to launch, we’re making huge strides and are super focused on delivering an amazing experience when early access begins on November 12th!”

In mid-September, EA delayed Battlefield 2042’s release date from October 22 to November 19.

However, players who choose to pre-order the Battlefield 2042 Gold and Ultimate editions will receive access to the game one week ahead of its general release.
