DICE has revealed Battlefield 2042 Season 3, which launches next week

DICE has unveiled Battlefield 2042 Season 3 and confirmed a November 22 launch date.

Titled Escalation, it will introduce a new map, Specialist Rasheed Zain, fresh weapons, a new tank, and a reworked class-based system.

The Battlefield 2042 Season 3: Escalation gameplay reveal trailer is viewable below.

The game’s third season of live content includes a new map called Spearhead, which is set in the untamed Swedish wilderness and features two semi-automated manufacturing facilities of high-tech weaponry.

Egyptian-born Specialist and security expert Zain wields the XM370A airburst rifle and is capable of recharging his health after taking out an enemy.

Throwing knives are joining the Battlefield 2042 arsenal in Season 3 alongside three new weapons: the Rorsch Mk-4 railgun, the double-barrelled semi-automatic NVK-S22 smart shotgun, and the long barrelled NVK-P125 Bullpup pistol.

The new EMKV90-TOR tank has two modes. Mobility mode emphasises speed while siege mode slows the vehicle but allows it to deal far greater damage. It can also detect the source of incoming attacks within a given range.

Escalation will feature new Assignments, a feature introduced when Season 2: Master of Arms launched in August. These can be completed to gain access to Vault Weapons, which are weapons previously available only in Battlefield Portal that can be accessed in All-Out Warfare once unlocked. Weapons up for grabs in Season 3 will include the XM8 and A-91.

In response to Battlefield 2042’s “polarising” Specialists, DICE will introduce a class-based system and a set of balance adjustments with the game’s 3.2 update in early 2023.

Season 3 and Season 4 will also continue to offer updated versions of the game’s existing launch maps. Following the previously released reworked versions of Kaleidoscope, Renewal and Orbital, new versions of Manifest and Breakaway will arrive during Season 3.

DICE has revealed Battlefield 2042 Season 3, which launches next week

While publisher EA had previously committed to releasing four seasons of live service content for Battlefield 2042 over the course of a year, DICE said last week that more content is on the way too.

“We’re already in pre-production on new content that will come after Season 4 next year,” the studio revealed.

EA has also confirmed that Battlefield 2042 will be made available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play subscribers when Season 3 launches on November 22.
