Activision Blizzard has confirmed plans to release Diablo 4 in 2023.
The game, which won’t be playable offline, was originally announced in 2019 for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
It is now coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S too, with cross-play and cross-progression for all platforms. The game will also support couch-co-op on consoles.

“We can’t wait to open the gates of Hell next year—the talented team behind Diablo IV puts gameplay first in everything they do, and they have built the biggest and most ambitious vision of Sanctuary yet,” said Blizzard president Mike Ybarra.
“This sprawling world draws deeply from the dark well of the franchise’s 25-year history and is designed around the philosophy of player choice, offering an adventure unlike anything Diablo players have experienced before.”
Blizzard has also opened pre-registration for a Diablo 4 beta, which hasn’t yet been dated.
Development of Diablo 4 has been hampered by high-profile team members leaving the studio, with game director Luis Barriga, lead designer Jesss McCree and World of Warcraft senior designer Joonathan LeCraft exiting the company last year.
Blizzard also announced on Sunday that Overwatch 2 is launching in early access on October 4 as a free-to-play title.
The sequel, which includes a new five-versus-five setup and cross-play, will release for PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and Switch.
