Death Stranding’s PC release has been delayed due to coronavirus disruption

The PC release of Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding has been delayed by six weeks to July 14.

In a statement published on Tuesday, the Japanese developer said the delay was due to its temporary closure because of the coronavirus pandemic. A company employee tested positive for COVID-19 last month.

Published by 505, Death Stranding for PC is set to feature a higher frame rate, photo mode, ultrawide monitor support and Half-Life crossover content, according to the publisher.

It was previously confirmed that the PC version of Death Stranding will be released simultaneously on Steam and the Epic Games Store. It’s available to pre-order now priced at $59.99/£54.99.

Announced at E3 2016 and released for PS4 in November 2019, Death Stranding is the first title from Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima since he split with Konami in 2015.

It features a cast of high-profile actors including Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Lindsay Wagner and director Guillermo del Toro.

Kojima has described Death Stranding as “a completely new type of action game, where the goal of the player is to reconnect isolated cities and a fragmented society”.

In VGC’s Death Stranding review, our critic called the game “a bloated, showy post-apocalyptic melodrama that makes a meal of some engrossing mechanics and themes.”
