Death Stranding debuts behind Days Gone in UK launch sales
Kojima title sold over a third less boxed copies at launch
Death Stranding has sold around 36% fewer UK boxed copies than Sony’s other big PS4 exclusive Days Gone did when it released earlier this year.
GI.biz reports the Kojima Productions title is the second biggest PS4 exclusive this year, meaning it beat the likes of Concrete Genie and MediEvil.
However, the title couldn’t match Bend Studio’s UK launch numbers for Days Gone, nor Nintendo’s release of Luigi’s Mansion 3 (although that game released on a Thursday).
Death Stranding debuts at No.2 in the UK boxed charts, meaning that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare retains No.1 for a third consecutive week, with sales tracking 26% ahead of last year’s Black Ops 4.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 falls from No.2 to No.4 with a 59% drop in sales week-on-week.
There are a number of new boxed releases this week, with Need for Speed: Heat arriving at No.5 and Mario & Sonic At The Tokyo Olympic Games debuting at No.8.
