Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will no longer grant ‘Erotica’ points for taking photos of women
Players can still earn points for other types of photo, however
The upcoming remaster of Dead Rising will no longer have the ‘Erotica’ photo feature.
In the original Dead Rising, the player can use a camera to take photos of the action in front of them.
By taking photos of specific items of interest, the player is awarded with PP (prestige points), which can be used to level up the protagonist Frank.
The game would score players’ photos on specific categories, including Horror (for photos of zombies or graphic gore), Brutality (for photos of violence) and Outtake (for photos of humorous scenes or zombies with items on their heads).
One of these categories was Erotica, which gave players PP for taking photos of women’s cleavage, underwear or any other revealing clothing.
However, according to a new summary of the game’s features by Famitsu, the upcoming Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will no longer include the Erotica category.
Given that the original game was released 18 years ago, the clear implication is that what may have been acceptable in 2006 is longer the case in the 2024.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will be released on September 19. The remaster will use the RE Engine and will include quality-of-life improvements such as auto-saving, revamped controls and improved UI.
Another element from the original game that won’t be present is Frank’s original voice, which was provided by voice actor Terence J Rotolo.
Rotolo confirmed last month that he wasn’t asked to reprise the role of Frank for the remaster, saying: “An actor’s job when called upon is to show up prepared, deliver your best, and when done move onto the next mission. I simply wasn’t called for this mission. The reasons are the producers’ own.”
