Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is coming in September, using the RE Engine
The game will include auto-saving, an improved UI and more
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will be released in September, Capcom has announced.
As confirmed during Capcom Next, the remaster of the 2006 game will be released on September 19, 2024. The remaster will include quality-of-life improvements such as auto-saving, revamped controls, improved UI, and more.
Capcom also confirmed that the game will be remastered using the RE Engine, Capcom’s versatile engine behind its recent string of hits.
“All of the graphics, including the characters and environments, have been renewed, and greatly improved over the original, reads the game’s description on its Steam page
“Characters’ facial expressions, material textures, and blood spatter all look much more realistic. Overwhelming hordes of zombies fill the screen with completely remade graphics.”
The game’s digital deluxe edition will include 17 extra costumes for Frank, and 17 music tracks that will be played throughout the in-game mall.
Developed by Capcom Japan and produced by Keiji Inafune, the original Dead Rising was released in 2006. It received an HD remaster for modern platforms in 2016.
The game stars protagonist Frank West, a photojournalist who gets trapped in a zombie infested shopping mall in the fictional town of Willamette, Colorado.
Dead Rising has received several sequels, the first of which was developed by Blue Castle Games. The studio was acquired and renamed Capcom Vancouver in 2010 following the completion of Dead Rising 2.
Capcom Vancouver also developed 2011’s Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, 2013’s Dead Rising 3, which was published by Microsoft as an Xbox One launch title, and 2016’s Dead Rising 4.
Capcom announced plans to close the studio and cancel its in development projects in September 2018.
The Dead Rising franchise has sold 16 million units as of March 2024.
